AVOCADO SOAP

Back in February this year, I managed to dust my soap equipment and made a batch of soap with thick avocado oil, delicious olive oil and pure unrefined shea butter (naturally). After more than 10 weeks on the curing racks, I have a smooth luxurious rich creamy bar with a refreshing blend of pure essential oils to offer Cioccolatina customers.

Wonderful as a body soap, fantastic as a shampoo bar.

SHED THE OLD SKIN

Last Friday, I had plans to take things easy as I have been "running around" all week. However, the rascals had a different idea - they were both off school feeling under the weather. After managing to get them off to sleep in the afternoon, I got myself into the kitchen to concoct this African Black soap sugar scrub.

Ingredients:

Lots of patience (about 3 hours)

230g sugar (Whitworths Fairtrade demerara sugar)

132g African Black Soap

66g unrefined sheabutter

66g unrefined cocoabutter

66g fractionated coconut oil

20g veg. glycerin

The scrub makes 2 x 270g and smells wonderful even without any essential oils. The unrefined cocoa butter gives it a different edge to it. When you get to the M stage, your skin plays games with you. I live in a hard water area and managed to use only a tablespoon size of this scrub. My skin was really soft to touch.

Demerara sugar is very soft so this scrub is a bit porous when applied to the skin.

MONDAY 12.NOV.07

Gosh, it was really freezing today. Woke up to a -6°C down here in Berkshire. The windscreen was all frosted up and it was very hard work trying to decant 8kgs of pure unrefined shea butter. Due to the natural occurring stearic in shea, the butter hardens up in cold temperatures. At least, all the pots are on their way to good warm homes.

Shelves are stacked with mince pies and tinsels. I hate to say it but the countdown has already begun to the festive season. Why not treat yourself or loved ones to some gorgeous handmade natural products by yours truly:
